Overview:

Connecting suppliers of essential resources (i.e., food, clothing, hygiene, shelter, etc.) with non-profit organizations focused on addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable communities.

Problem Space:

Currently, food security solutions are supply-centric, focused on distributing excess food through NGOs primarily to avoid landfill costs. Although this approach diverts waste, food insecurity in Canada continues to rise. These current methods are not scalable, fail to measure impact or add value, and overlook the nutritional needs of the food insecure. There is a need to shift from a supply “push” to a demand “pull” model, matching the needs of the vulnerable with availability and timeliness of supply.

Potential Solution:

  • The solution will create a scalable, value-driven data platform using advanced analytics, AI, and ML to consolidate data and enhance forecasting, shifting from “push” to “pull” system.
  • The solution will be grounded in KPIs that track the reduction of food insecurity, carbon emissions, and waste, while also quantifying benefits for stakeholders and enabling tax credits for quality food donations
